A coworking space is a shared ‘office’ where you can work on a temporary (or long-term) basis, with various services such as internet, kitchen facilities and meeting rooms. You can also network with others, collaborate on projects and maybe even meet your future business partner.
Why Use An Auckland Coworking Space?
As a digital nomad currently house-sitting in New Zealand (Māori: Aotearoa), I run my business from the houses I look after. Yet, working alone can be lonely at times and online networking isn’t the same as meeting with like-minded folks over a coffee at a stylish coworking space.
You might feel extra motivation by being surrounded by others with a similar attitude, greater discipline of set working hours, and a professional background in which to conduct business. There are even dog-friendly co-working spaces so that dog lovers can add pats and belly rubs to their morning caffeine routine.

Hot Desk Auckland CBD
A hot desk is a desk in a shared coworking space that you can hire on a short-term basis, often daily (sometimes known as “day passes”), or on a weekly basis.
Currently, the only Auckland CBD coworking space offering ‘hot’ desks is Alberts @ $39/day (drop-in/casual rates), although there are a number of spaces in the surrounding suburbs that offer hot desk options (see below).
I was unable to locate any options to pay for Auckland coworking spaces per hour, only per day.
Spaces Auckland
Spaces/SpaceWorks, with over 475 locations around the globe, offers a “…thriving community of professionals and get to work in offices, coworking spaces and meeting rooms…” If you are looking for a monthly subscription, these start from $159/m (Commercial Bay Tower, Auckland CBD) but they, unfortunately, do not offer casual “hot desks” at this time. An option for digital nomads who will be in Auckland for the longer term.
Generator Auckland
Another option for digital nomads in Auckland longer term, Generator offers monthly memberships starting at $249/m at their three CBD locations: Grid AKL / 12 Madden St, Britomart Place and Stanbeth + Excelsior House.
